Our mission at Paws and Effect is to promote and develop canine assistance to individuals and organizations in the community.

At-risk teens train and place assistance dogs with disabled individuals and gain immeasurable self-esteem.

Our research has shown that both those students taking the course and the school student body in general reap rewards from this program:

with students in the program:
Self-esteem increased by as much as 80%
Attendance improved over 73%
Referrals for problem behavior decreased by 89%
The average GPA rose 32%

with students campus-wide:
The suspension rate decreased by 51%
Calls for discipline help decreased by 27%

The disabled population benefits from having a local program from whom they an obtain an assistance dog minus the long, arduous wait and travel required to distant training centers.
The community also benefits from having a teen population with higher self-esteem and more emotional self-control.
